John R. Hillman P.E., S.E.

John Hillman is the President and CEO of HC Bridge.  For the last thirteen years, the initiative to promote the HCB has come primarily from him, the original inventor of the HCB.  John has over 23 years of experience in innovative bridge design, inspection and construction.  In addition to his skills as a structural engineer, John has extensive experience in the management of both construction and design projects.  In the mountains of Puerto Rico in 1990, he managed the construction of one of only two incrementally launched bridges in the United States.  In 2005, John managed the design and served as Engineer of Record for a cable-stayed bridge in Columbus, Indiana.  During the reconstruction of Wacker Drive, in downtown Chicago, John was the design manager for one of the three design sections.  In 2005 John Hillman’s design for the 35th Street Pedestrian Bridge was selected as the winning alternate in an international design competition by the City of Chicago and will be open to the public in 2010.  


Michael Zicko, P.E.

Mike Zicko has over 25 years of experience in bridge design and construction.  As a design engineer for a precast fabricator, Mike was instrumental in the development of the prefabricated Inverset™ bridge system throughout the Northeast and co-authored the Inverset™ Design, Installation and Technical Manual.  He was involved in some of the first over the weekend and overnight superstructure replacement projects in the country including the Tappan Zee Bridge.  Mike then was the project manager for the first two segmental “Channel Bridges” built in the United States.  Subsequently, he spent 6 years with an ENR Top 50 US construction company including time as project engineer on the Replacement of the James River Bridge in Richmond, Virginia, project manager and estimator.
